Question by Citygirl:
Can a dental implant still be put in lower jaw in the far back if site is near facial nerve?
I had an x-ray of the site and was told that placing an implant at this site might permanently damage my facial nerve since my facial nerve is higher up in my jaw. Is there a way to get around this problem in case I still need an implant put here? The roots of my molar are just as long as an implant and I do not have any problems from the roots affecting the nerve.

——————————————

Answer by smileman
Not the facial nerve. The inferior alveolar nerve. Yes seek a specialist who can order or take special films called tomagraphs. Generally they can be put without a problem. Placement in the very back can be tricky due to how wide you can open.

Answer by dentalcare32
Some times sinus lift surgery provides the right solution which only your dentist can decide.

Answer by Yvette B yvetteb
i would get THREE views about that from specialists, before i did anything that would effect a facial nerve.

the ristk is not worth it in my opinion.

Answer by djaca70
No- the tooth is dead, thus the enamel is dead too.

Answer by jennr85
No, whitening will not help a dead tooth. Your tooth is dead on the inside, where whitening treats the outside. The only way to whiten a dead tooth is to get a veneer or crown. Sorry…

Answer by Joyce E
I doubt it. You might get a lower price if the work was done by a dental school.

Answer by Tina
The only reason it would be cheaper is because you’d get them done before the dentist’s price went up which is usually 1/yr

Answer by Cat
You probably shouldn’t try to whiten your teeth with braces on. If you whiten them now, when you get your braces removed the spots where the brackets were will be a completely different color then the rest of your tooth. You should speak to your orthodontist before you go ahead with anything.

Answer by shortstuff21990
i concur with cat. plus when you get your braces taken off…MOST OF THE TIME…the dentist will bleach them because where your braces were will be white and were they werent will be a more yellow color

Answer by Cherry xo
you shouldn’t whiten your teeth with braces, because once you get the braces off the places where the brackets were will be discolored, and it will just look hideous. wait until you get your braces off then speak to your dentist and see what they recommend (:

Question by c j:
How long does it take for a bone graft from your hip to form a base for dental implants, take to heal? Can yo?
Can you return to work the next day?
Thank you! I am down to basal bone(?)–only a few mm’s in some areas so I know he is hoping to add height and density. I am SO looking forward to this and hoping it works. Do they add some kind of block so you cannot bite down while healing?

——————————————

Answer by The Mullet
It all depends on how you feel. Its no worse than getting a tooth pulled. So like I stated it depends on how you feel.

Answer by dre@itsa.ucsf.edu
12 weeks; No your’e not going to be able to go to work the day after a graft. The bruising is very bad after a graft.

Answer by dental hygienist
Why are they using bone from your hip? Usually they can use freeze dried cadaver bone. In this case I would probably take the rest of the day off and you could go back to work the next day. I am sure your hip would take longer to heal than your mouth. Get a second view and ask about the freeze dried bone.

——————————————
——————————————

Answer by LaTiNa_GuRl
Well it all depends on the percentages. The higher the percentage of hydro peroxide then the more sensitivity can occur. But its not painful. If it does cause tooth sensitivity then it might be sensitive with air like when you breath with your mouth open. And might be sensitive with cold water and when you eat but its not unbearable pain.

Answer by Chessie
I have bleaching trays for my teeth. They were custom made for my mouth. It doesn’t injured when you use them. They are fitted to your mouth and suction onto your teeth with the gel. It works quite well. Sometimes when I have had them on for a long time my teeth will feel a tiny weird after taking them off but it doesn’t hurt.

Answer by Josi
There are different types of dental implants. On type is individual tooth replacement. This costs approx. $ 2,000/tooth.
I think the implants you are referring to are when you have your dentures “implanted”.
These implants are generally used on patients with severely resorbed ridges and only when no other options exist.
In my area it costs approx. $ 4,000 to $ 6,000 per denture.

Answer by bella361
I had ONE implant, mind you by the time they realized I needed an implant (after doing a root canal on the wrong tooth and months of infection brewing), I also needed bone grafting, so my total was around $ 10, 000!!! for one tooth. Of course, this was in FL, where, IMO, prices are inflated, my case was complicated, had to be finished in VA and as I stated I needed the bone grafting surgery as well. I think as time goes on, the prices might lower, hopefully.

Answer by dentalcare32
Not more than $ 1500 for upper full denture supported on two ball type implants.
